A Mature and Growing Resource

Since 1989, the SCLD has collected information on cancer-related bills and resolutions enacted or adopted in the United States at the state level. Beginning with a few hundred records, the SCLD has grown from 1,800 records in 1995 to more than 8,600 records today. At the same time, topical coverage has expanded to include genetics, health disparities, minors’ access to tanning facilities, and most recently, obesity prevention—adding new topic areas as advancement in cancer prevention and control research demands.
