Gynecologic Cancers-General In California, A.B. 833 requires the state Department of Health Services ("Department") to place priority, if funding is available, on informing the public about the symptoms, risk factors, early detection of, and treatment options for women's gynecological cancers. The legislation also authorizes the Department to appoint a Women's Gynecological Cancer Information Advisory Council, and requires health care providers conducting gynecological examinations to give each patient a standardized summary, written in layperson's language, describing the symptoms and methods of diagnoses for gynecological cancers. Health care providers may distribute existing publications from nationally recognized cancer organizations. |
