With A.B. 26, Nevada amends its cytology screening reimbursement law by prohibiting designated individual and group insurers, including HMOs, from requiring an insured person to obtain prior authorization for any cytologic screening services mandated by law. See the additional summary of this bill in the Breast Cancer Detection/Third-Party Reimbursement section. Cytology Quality Assurance Nevada enacted a law, S.B. 448, requiring the state Board of Health ("Board") to adopt regulations establishing the length of time that health care and other records of medical laboratories must be retained. All regulations adopted by the Board, except for qualifications and duties of medical laboratory personnel, may not be more stringent than the provisions of the Federal Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (P.L. 100-578). The Health Division of the state Department of Human Resources may require a laboratory located outside the state to be licensed in accordance with this law before examining any specimens collected within the state. |
