Addendum

The July 1997 issue of the SCLD Update should have contained a summary of an amendment to California's tobacco product liability law. A.B. 1603 specified that the exemption from product liability for tobacco manufacturers and sellers does not apply to an action brought by a public entity to recover the value of benefits provided to individuals injured by a tobacco-related illness. See the Tobacco-Use Reduction/Miscellaneous section for an amendment to this law.
