Occupational Exposure Reduction

New York passed a law designed to determine the eligibility of firefighters for an accidental disability retirement allowance. Until June 1998, the law presumes that disability or death from melanoma or certain other types of cancer was incurred in the line of duty unless proven otherwise. This presumption is dependent upon the firefighter previously meeting specified criteria.
